My fiancé and I eat at Arlo's often but especially when we have friends staying with us, as we know we can rely on Arlo's to impress. As on every visit, tonight the food was superb (we loved the quite significantly expanded menu with much greater choice at every course), cocktails excellent - especially the Martinis, which are better here than in most cocktail bars - and service attentive, kind and warm. We had, yet again, a wonderful time and will be back soon and often.
Casual eaterie on the bustling Northcote Road that does a stellar twist on brunch. Arlo's Battersea has a very relaxed atmosphere, and a walk in brunch policy that works thanks to the reasonable amount of seating available inside and out. They specialise in bavette steak dishes for brunch, with menu split between veggie and meaty dishes, all of which can be supplemented with a number of add-ons and side dishes, including chorizo, halloumi and skin on fries.
As well as hot drinks and alcohol, the drinks menu also includes some fresh smoothies - the beet based version was a glorious pink-red, sweet, earthy and delicious.
The benedict was perfectly portioned - chunky English muffin, bavette steak slices cooked medium rare as requested, topped with two beautifully poached eggs and generously smothered in spoonfuls of hollandaise. The Croque Moo'dame was similarly a twist on the classic French toastie - chunks of medium well bavette sandwiches between two hefty slices of sourdough and some serious cheese, grilled and served with a fried egg on top. The hand cut fries we ordered on the side were a tasty but ultimately unnecessary addition.
While edging on to the pricey side the food was excellent, the atmosphere pleasant, the service friendly and swift - definitely worth a return visit.
Great hospitality, great food. The flank steak was their signature dish. It is a cut that are not used by most restaurants. The dessert portion size were massive, which made sharing perfect.
